Sa Caleta

Location

Fishing trips are available from the beach. Take to the glittering seas and catch some of Minorca's offshore bounty, which you can barbecue for dinner that evening. At one end of the beach is a lofty watchtower with breathtaking views across the Mediterranean.

A small, tranquil resort with a wonderful stretch of sandy beach, Sa Caleta is one of Minorca's hidden gems. Particularly popular with families, it flaunts a selection of rustic restaurants, quaint shops and a low-key nightlife. Its proximity to nearby Ciudadela, where you can discover a charming historical old town and delightful cobbled streets studded with beautiful shops and lively bars, makes Sa Caleta a superb choice if you're seeking peace and quiet with a vibrant alternative nearby.

Sa Caleta Beaches

Sa Caleta boasts a beautiful stretch of porcelain-white beach that slides seductively into aquamarine waters. Set in a stunning bay, there are fantastic snorkelling opportunities with a kaleidoscope of fishlife darting between the rocks at one end of the beach.

Shopping in Sa Caleta

With a selection of souvenir shops and mini-markets, everyday essentials can be found in abundance. Nearby Ciudadela has two huge food markets which are open every morning except Sunday. Buy Mahon cheese, Xoriguer gin, herbal liqueurs and almond biscuits for a real taste of Minorca. The back streets of Cuidadela are home to some wonderful boutiques selling unusual mementos and trinkets including antique jewellery and traditional crafts.

Sa Caleta Nightlife

With nightlife in Sa Caleta revolving around long beach walks, dramatic pink sunsets and quiet tavernas, nearby Cuidadela is the place to head for if you feel like a livelier night. Energetic bars and vibrant discos including a salsa club, complete with Cuban music and cocktails, can be found behind the elegant marina.

Local Specialities

Sa Caleta has some traditional restaurants serving both local food and international cuisine, with seafood a particular speciality. Try 'caldereta de langosta' - lobster lightly cooked with onions, tomato, garlic and parsley and served with thin slices of crispy bread to dip into the rich, flavoursome sauce.
