Sacromonte neighborhood of
- Traditionally the home of gypsies, artists, and bohemians.
- Gypsies were not allowed to live within the city walls of Granada.
- These wall are within Granada's district of Albaicin
- They built there homes in Sacromonte just to the west of Albaicin on the steep northern slopes of the Doro Valley.
- Many of these homes were made in caves.
- Now many of these homes are open to the public or converted to restauranta some of which put on Flamenco shows
- These slopes are opposite The great Nasrid Palaces & Alcazaba fortress of The Alhambra affording magnificent views of them.
- Many Cave dwellings

Sacromonte Abbey (Abadía del Sacromonte)
Description of Sacromonte Abbey
- Completed in 1567
- Interesting Mudejar Coffered Ceilings
- Mudejar. The decrotive styling of the Moors that was carried out by remaining Moor Craftsmen after the Reconquest by the Christians
- Coffered Ceilings: A rectangle, square, octagonal, or mix of wooden beams. These were carved with beautiful geometric designs in the Mudejar period
- Beneath the church are the catacombs.
- The most famous person to have his remains buried here was Saint Caecilius who was the First Bishopandwas martured by the Romans
