Roses Description, Costa Brava, Spain
Roses is one of the largest resorts on the Costa Brava and has sprung up as a tourist destination from it's origins as a fishing village, in the 1960's. The town still has a thtiving fishing fleet.
The front has a lovely promenade that takes about half an hour to strole along.

Located:
- Under 20 miles south of the French border on the Medeterrean coast.
- Nestling on the coast to the south west of the moutainous Cap de Creus

Attractions
Agua Brava aquatic park
Located less than 1 km along the Cadaqués Road from the centre. The park has over 20 attractions with the largest wave pool in Europe.

Roses Citadel & Museum
A large Star Shaped fort built in 1543. See the massive & stunning sea gate.
Within the fort are excavations of much earlier fortifications and buildings from settlements by the Greeks, Romans and later periods in both BC & Ad
Avinguda de Rhode, s/n. 17480 Roses (Girona)
Built in the middle of the 7th century on top of a strategic hill. The Visigoths were nomadic tibes of Germanic decent, and are remembered in history by defeating the Romans.
The museum takes you through the local history from From Neolithic times, through the Greek colonisation, Roman times and the Visigoth era on to medieval and modern times.

The Santa Maria building was started in 1792 using parts of the older Santa Maria Monastry such as part of the apse
Trinity Castle (The Castell de la Trinitat)
Built in 1544 on high ground of the Poncella point with a commanding position over the Bay of Roses. This fort complements the Roses Citadel built the year before on the far side of the old town of Roses.
The walls are 2 metres thick and has very angular 5 points, designed to deflect cannon balls.
There are 3 terraces of gun platforms which housed cannons, howitzers and mortars.
