Introduction
Es Castell is a small, relaxing village with a Bohemian flavour, proud of its British ancestry situated on the gently-sloping east coast, some 3km south of Mahon.
Es Castell has two inlets to the Port of Mahon - Calas Fons is popular with a wide choice of restaurants built into the rock, Cala Corp has Es Cau bar, where Minorcans sing their traditional songs. There is also the famous drag show in the Bar Salon, just off the main square.
Beaches and Sightseeing
There are no beaches in Es Castell itself but there's a small sandy beach at nearby Cala Padera.

There is a wide variety of restaurants, serving traditional, international and local cuisine, concentrated in the town centre and the port.
Local interest
If you want to discover some of the island's treasures, why not take a boat trip along the bay, a tour of local prehistoric monuments, visit towns inland or the hilltop sanctuary of El Toro?

Browse Es Castell's shops along the high street and the market in the square, (held on Mondays and Wednesdays). Evening shopping is possible in Calas Fons where you can find Minorcan clothing, pearls and locally designed jewellery.
