First Class Carrage on Soller Train
My Tips
- Be early to get a seat on the First Class carrage, or to get a window seat.
- On the Palma to Soller Journey the left side has slightly better views.
- The best views are from the open small platforms beween the carrages
FirstThe ancient Palma - Soller railway that goes over and threw the mountains, Serra de Tramuntana. This is a must do trip and can be combined with the tram from Soller to Puerto Soller then a boat trip to the magical Sa Calobra and then a short walk, about 600 metres, from the jetty, past some cafes, through a tunnel the to Torrent de Parlos a deep gorge ravine heading inland from the beautiful beach.
The Tram
I recommend the full return trip - Train, Tram and Boat for a supreme full day out.
After leaving the station the train with it's whistle blowing warnings runs along the streets and roads of Palma, like a tram. There must be some traffic light contol system for the train because it get green lights all the way.

Holidays to Palma de Mallorca Hotels information
Palma is a large city build on the coast in the large Bay of Palma. The central section of the city has no beaches, only a massive port and marina that handles, cargo vessels, massive cruise liners, ferries, small pleasure vessels and fishermen's boats.
Large Beaches can be found in the cities Eastern outskirts and suburbs of Playa de Palma, S'Arenal, and smaller ones in the West of Cala Major and Illetes
There are plenty of local buses from Palma to the beaches, fares around €1.25
Because of the lack of beaches in central Palma the British tour operators do not go to Palma, which is a shame because there is so much to do and see in this historic City.
